Podcasts are becoming increasingly popular these days. There are lakhs of podcasts ranging from a minute short to eight hours long as well. It makes podcasts much more engaging and more personal happy places. I have been following plenty of them for the last three to four years.

In this article, I have mentioned a few common and a few not-so-common finance and economics podcasts. I shortlisted eight podcasts of my choice and divided them into foreign and Indian podcasts.

I have excluded podcasts of some media outlets like The Economist, BBC, HT or Business Standard, on purpose since these are already quite famous. There is no doubt that they are good, but there is much more content beyond the established media. So, here is recommended list of podcasts dedicated to economics and finance topics that you can start off from 2023 if you haven’t already.

Foreign Podcasts

CNBC’s Fast Money

Yes, this is by CNBC (US), and yes, I know I told you that I am excluding podcasts made by established media. But this is an exception. The Fast Money podcast is hosted by Melissa Lee. She hosts a group of top traders to talk about earnings results, ongoing issues, market sentiments and much more. This is a great way to understand the US markets and its economy. There is a high possibility that you won’t relate to the issues or companies that get discussed, but I would recommend you give it a shot four or five times to get the hang of it.

Invest Like the Best with Patrick O’Shaugnessy

Patrick is a founder of O’Shaughnessy Asset Management LLC. This is an interview-type podcast. He invites leaders from different industries as well as capital market experts. The range of topics is wide. The main focus of Invest Like the Best with Patrick O’Shaugnessy , as the name suggests, is to get more insights on how to invest like the best. Combining all the episodes, he has created a parallel guide on investing and finance.

Capital Ideas Investing Podcast

Capital Group, one of the world’s leading investment firms, has created this interview-style podcast for dealing with ongoing issues in the financial markets and economics. I have listened to it only a couple of times and found this interesting. They discuss the issue at length and depth. I would be unraveling this podcast from the next year and thought of sharing this with all of you too.

The Gartner Supply Chain Podcast

This podcast caught my eye just a few days ago, and I believe that it was a wonderful discovery. The podcast is solely dedicated to the supply chain topic. That’s what made it special and into this list. Like the previous one, I have not listened to it much, therefore cannot comment more on it. But I am sure that it will widen the scope of information and knowledge on this topic.

Indian Podcasts

Paisa Vaisa with Anupam Gupta

Paisa Vaisa has become a landmark in itself. There are already a lot of followers, and it is considered one of the best podcasts in this category. If you have not heard any podcasts yet, this is the podcast that should be on top of your list. I cannot describe it more – just listen!

Capital Mind Podcast

Like Paisa Vaisa, Deepak Shenoy’s Capital Mind podcast is also one of the go-to podcasts for finance. He discusses complex topics in a simpler way. This podcast should be on the top of your list for investing-related knowledge.

Puliyabaazi Hindi Podcast

Podcasts are largely in the English language. But this IVM creation – Puliyabaazi, is a Hindi podcast on economics and public policy. Pranay Kotasthane and Saurabh Chandra discuss various complex issues within the economy, public policy and current affairs. They analyse each issue based on the first principles. That’s what makes them special. I would recommend this podcast to everyone interested in understanding and learning economics through real-life examples.

India’s Reforms Story

We are witnessing this great Indian growth story because of the reforms that took place in 1991. Journalist Puja Mehra has unpacked stories behind these reforms along with experts like Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Rakesh Mohan, NK Singh, etc. This podcast was released in 2021 and had only seven episodes. But within these seven episodes, you get to enter the BTS moments around that time. She also asks hard questions regarding the future growth story of the Indian economy.

I hope you will benefit from this list.
